If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes tonight when Man City arrive at St James’ Park, who would you pick for the game against the Citizens? How many changes would you make to the team that lost the Derby? Who starts up front? Who gets a chance to impress in the first team? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Elliot

Yanga-Mbiwa Williamson Dummett Haidara

Tiote

Anita Cabaye

Ben Arfa Marveaux

Cisse

Needless to say I’d make a lot of changes to the team that played at the weekend, especially with the Saturday lunchtime game against Chelsea taking importance.

Massadio Haidara would be in the team at left-back, as Davide Santon has been playing every game this season and could do with a rest as his form appears to be suffering. Similarly Debuchy would be replaced at right-back by Yanga-Mbiwa, who hasn’t impressed enough for me at centre-back.

Paul Dummett would continue with Williamson in the middle of defence before the weekend when Fabricio Coloccini and Steven Taylor could come back.

Up front, Papiss Cisse must return through the middle for me, while Marveaux gets a chance on the left wing. Ben Arfa could be Newcastle’s most likely source of success so should be played in his strongest position – the right wing.
