If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes tonight, who would you pick in your starting XI to take on Everton? Does Papiss Cisse start up front? Which formation would give Newcastle the best chance? Does Hatem Ben Arfa start? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Yanga-Mbiwa – Williamson – Coloccini – Dummett

Sissoko – Tiote – Anita – Gouffran

de Jong – Cisse

I’d keep the same team that started the game against Crystal Palace at ┬áthe weekend, with Ben Arfa remaining on the bench to begin with. That’s because with de Jong and Cisse up front, the team has more structure and is able to deal with Everton’s deep playmakers like James McCarthy and Gareth Barry. De Jong proved against Hull that he can stop those types of players from affecting the game and will be required to do similar tonight.

Ben Arfa could start on the left wing in place of Gouffran but again with Everton’s threat down the right with Seamus Coleman, Gouffran’s work rate could be more effective than Ben Arfa’s, who may go missing defensively and allow Coleman to double up on Paul Dummett at left-back.

Ben Arfa will definitely be used tonight though, probably in the second half when Newcastle have a firm foothold in the game and need a creative spark. That spark will be carried by Moussa Sissoko in the first period, as the Frenchman clashes with Leighton Baines on the right wing.

Hiadara is a better attacking full back than Dummett, other than that i would pick the same team.

For me Hatem Ben Arfa is an absolute must to start, especially in home games where we want to press and enforce our own attacking style of play on the visitors. Ben Arfa has had a poor season and has still scored 3 goals and made 8 assists mainly from substitute appearances. He is unargueably our most creative player and we need to utilise his talents in the absence of Cabaye. For that reason, coupled with Luuk De Jongs complete lack of creativity, purpose, flair or scoring ability, this is what I'd go for.

    Mbiwa Williamson Collocini Dummet

    Tiote Anita

    Ben Arfa Sissoko Gouffran
