If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes tonight, who would you pick in your starting XI to take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge? Who plays at left-back? What formation is best? Do we make changes to the side that was humbled at Wigan on Saturday? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Krul

Simpson – Coloccini – Williamson – Taylor

Cabaye – Tiote – Gutierrez

Ben Arfa                                                            Ba

Cisse

I’d go with the same team that were beaten by Wigan, with the exception of Ryan Taylor coming in at left-back for Davide Santon. The Italian is going to be a great player once he settles into English football, but has struggled recently. Taylor was playing excellently before injury hampered him, so he deserves another chance in the team. His set-piece strength could also be a weapon.

Other than that change, I don’t believe there is a stronger team for the Magpies to play, despite the heavy defeat at the hands of the Latics. Hopefully Cisse and Ba can find their scoring boots and Ben Arfa can torment both Ashley Cole and Bosingwa on either flank.

What do you think? Is this a good enough team to beat the Blues? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Unfortunately I think Newcastle will get beat tonight regardless of what team Mr Pardew fields. I hope I'm wrong but doesn't happen very often. Both Santon and Raylor aren't very good defenders in my opinion. Ryan is not even a defender, top lad but no defender. Its still been a cracking season with some nice memories and we've already got a reward that we never expected to achieve. Champions League would be dream land but realistically its not going to happen, in the words of Hamlet…close but no cigar.

Personally, I would keep it the same, i disagree with the other guy, Ryan Taylor isn’t crap, he is a premiership standard full back, he may claim to being a right winger, but his best position is at full back, he has been crucial for us at times in the last 2 years and should be given more credit than he is! I also don’t think Santon is crap, he just needs another season to come good! Just remember, we all thought colo was crap the first year, look at him now! The one player That would never make my line up is Simpson, the lad is crap! He needs to move on elsewhere next year! Tonight will be a tough game, the key will be getting out the blocks quickly and trying to slot one in before they do and as early as possible! The main man for me will be Hatem, if he is on top of his game, he will cause nightmares for them, on the other hand if he isn’t, I think we will be relying on set pieces to get chances, they have Cahill Luiz and ivanovic missing tonight, which means a back pairing of Terry and bosingwa, we need to exploit bosingwa on corners if possible! I’m really hoping Demba gets off the mark tonight, either way, I’m just praying we get a result, a draw would be acceptable, a loss would put the final word on our season, which would be no big let down, we have been a joy to watch this year and I’m definitely going to be wearing my colours with pride no matter what!!
