If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes tonight when Newcastle take on Benfica, who would you pick in your starting XI? Does Danny Simpson continue at right-back in place of Mathieu Debuchy? Who plays in midfield? Who replaces Yoan Gouffran in support of Papiss Cisse? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Simpson S.Taylor Yanga-Mbiwa Santon

Cabaye Anita

Gutierrez Sissoko Marveaux

I’d bring Vurnon Anita into midfield, in the only major change from the weekend defeat at Manchester City. This team resembles the one that has been playing in Europe for the most part of this season, with Anita anchoring midfield alongside Yohan Cabaye, while Moussa Sissoko pushes on in support of Cisse.

Adam Campbell may get some time from the bench, while Shola Ameobi will also be available to continue his scoring streak at the Stadium of Light, albeit against slightly lesser opposition.

What do you think? Could you do better? Leave a comment below and have your say!

I would never play Simpson, the man can't cross the ball to save his life. I would switch Anita to right back instead.

i know HBA isn't fit but a forward line of could cause a few problems!!!

    Ben Arfa Sissoko Santon
