Steven Taylor - Newcastle United News

If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes tonight, who would you pick for the game against Greek minnows Atromitos? Do we field a young team and hope to do the hard work when the Greeks come back to SJP for the second leg? Or do we send a strong side and get the job done as soon as possible? Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Harper
Tavernier Williamson Perch R. Taylor

Obertan Gosling Bigirimana Marveaux

Campbell Cisse

I’d go with a blend of youth and experience in Greece tonight, with some established first team players helping the younger lads out. Gael Bigirimana’s debut should be interesting, as he has been compared with Cheick Tiote in terms of playing style and attitude. Ryan Taylor and Mike Williamson will provide the defence with experience while James Tavernier may get a chance to shine at right-back.

I’d also give Adam Campbell a chance from the start, pairing him with Papiss Cisse to take some of the weight of expectation off his 17-year old shoulders.

I'm all for blooding youth and giving the wider squad a chance, but this is no easy fixture and think we need the steady hand of some of our experienced pros throughout the spine of the team. Here's my pick

      Harps
      Tavernier- Williamson- Perch- Santon
      Raylor- Anita- Gosling- Jonas
      Cisse- Cambell

Given the heat, the wide players could probably be given a rest with the likes of Obertan, Marvaux, and Amalfitino giving some fresh legs.

Sad that Vucic is injured as really thought this would be his time to shine.
Desperate to see how good Bigirimana really is, but for me the marginal experience of Gosling just pips him here
Hope Campbell gets a start and enjoys himself

      Howay the lads

I don't think he will start with two strikers, more likely put Anita in there and try and control the tempo of the game by bossing the midfield. With these away legs first scoring is vital as we don't want them coming back to SJP on the back of a 0-0!

I hope Cisse does not start, the last thing we need is him to get burnt out before the Chelsea game. Give Campbell a shot at the big time me thinks!! HWTL
