If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes tomorrow, who would you pick for the game against Wigan at St James’ Park? Does Cisse continue up front after his goal against Stoke? Does Mike Williamson keep his place after the stick he’s been getting? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Simpson Williamson Coloccini Santon

Gutierrez Tiote Anita Sa. Ameobi

Ba Cisse

I’d only go with Williamson at the back because Steven Taylor is injured and unable to play. The rest of the back four picks itself as it is unaffected by injury and pretty much first choice anyway. The problem in midfield is who to play on the left wing, with Sylvain Marveaux, Sammy Ameobi and Shane Ferguson the candidates for the berth. I’d go with Ameobi for his unpredictability and fact that he can cause problems when in the mood. If Marveaux was the same player he was at Rennes a few years ago, he’d be a shoe in for our strongest XI.

The front pairing of Ba and Cisse once again picks itself as they are the only two fit strikers. Hopefully Cisse’s goal against Stoke will give him confidence to fire us out of trouble against a rapidly improving Wigan side. Then again, we’ve heard that before, most notably against West Brom a few weeks back.

That’s my team, do you agree? Leave a comment below and have your say!
