If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes tomorrow afternoon, who would you pick for the massive game against West Ham? Does Fabricio Coloccini come back into the side after injury? Who plays in midfield? Does Hatem Ben Arfa start up front? Get involved and leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Elliot

Simpson S.Taylor Coloccini Haidara

Anita

Cabaye Sissoko

Ben Arfa Cisse Gouffran

I’d go with a 4-3-3 formation and for a change, our players playing in their best positions. Moussa Sissoko has to play in midfield with Cabaye, while Ben Arfa must start on the right wing after Jonas Gutierrez’s recent below-par performances.

Danny Simpson should play at right-back, or James Perch if he isn’t up to speed. Haidara will continue at left-back.

Coloccini must come back into the middle of defence with Steven Taylor, as his added aerial ability should give him the nod over Yanga-Mbiwa, who is considerably weaker when defending headers, as he showed last week when he failed to challenge Daniel Sturridge in the build up to Liverpool’s second goal.

What do you think? I’m sure there’ll be a few different choices out there! Leave a comment below and have your say!

Hadaira is out with an injury. I'd be a bit radical and go:

    Robby
    M'Biwa Colo Saylor Simpson

    Tiote Sissoko
    Ben Arfa Cabaye Goofy
    Cisse

Tiote and Sissoko should provide more than enough cover for the three small tricky Frenchmen.

    Haidara is injured.

I think your formation leaves us far to open playing away from home playing against a physical team.

I do agree that with the players we have available we should stick with a defence that does exactly what it says on the tin and concentrates on holding a good defensive formation. Not letting the fullbacks get drawn forward.

With West Hams attack I think we should be able to hold a high line anyway leaving our midfield and attack to do any damage required.

I also don't believe I would ever done it but I have. I am opting to put Obertan up front with Cisse as I think his speed would cause west ham problems and apparently he was excellent for the under 21 team the other day, scoring a hatrick.

I like the team in the article – its exactly what I would pick, Tiote has been poor all season for us & Mbwia will be taken apart by Carroll

I’d definitely play a 4-1-2-1-2, we’ll be able to use both Anita and Ben Arfa to their strengths

    Simpson-Colo-S.Taylor-Yanga M’biwa

    Anita

    Sissoko-Cabaye

    Ben Arfa

    Gouffran-Cisse

With Ben Arfa playing as an attacking midfielder, our attacking presence wil be all over it; especially with two up front. Sissoko is not a winger, he needs to be played in the centre.
