If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes tomorrow afternoon, who would you pick for the starting XI to take on West Brom? Who replaces Cheick Tiote in midfield after his red card last week? Who plays up front with Demba Ba, Cisse or Ameobi? Does Sammy Ameobi get a chance after playing so well against Bruges?

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Simpson Coloccini S. Taylor Santon

Cabaye Anita Gutierrez

Ben Arfa Ba Cisse

I’d go with all the big guns to return as you would expect, with the main decision being Cisse starting ahead of Ameobi. The main reason being that it may only take one goal for the Senegal striker to recapture the form of the first six months of the calendar year.

Anita is the most likely replacement for Tiote, although Pardew may choose James Perch as a more defensively able option.

Sammy Ameobi would certainly play some part after his performance against Bruges, as would the impressive Shane Ferguson, who seems to have a fantastic understanding with Papiss Cisse.
