Danny Guthrie - Newcastle United News

If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes tomorrow evening for Newcastle’s long trip South to take on Spurs, who would you pick in your team to take on Harry Redknapp’s side? Does Papiss Cisse get his first start for Newcastle? Does Hatem Ben Arfa start on the bench again? Who replaces the injured Ryan Taylor? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Simpson – Coloccini – Williamson – Santon

Obertan – Guthrie – Perch – Gutierrez

Cisse – Ba

I’d go with the team that ended the game against Villa last week, with Obertan replacing the injured Taylor on the right wing. We don’t have a winger that can defend as well as Taylor can against the threat of Bale and co. so Obertan will be the best we can offer!

Perch should continue in centre midfield in Cabaye’s absence, as he has been solid since the Frenchman picked up a suspension.

Finally, I’d start Cisse up front with Ba to cause Spurs’ defence problems from the off. Cisse has pace and combined with Ba’s strength, it could be an excellent partnership for the Magpies.

Generally the same players but more in this formation:

    Cisse Ba

  2. Paul

Friedel, walker, Dawson, king, assou ekotto, Lennon, Parker, modric, bale, Defoe, Adebayor. That’s my spurs team! Think it’s going to be a good game! Good luck you guys.

same team, I'd like to see gosling and ben arfa get some playing time with cabaye and tiote due back for the wolves game although spurs away is maybe a little dangerous to play ba, cisse and ben arfa UNLESS we're chasing the game

I would entertain Spurs with this team 😀
