If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes tomorrow, who would you pick for the game against Southampton at St James’ Park? Does Tiote come back into the team? Does Papiss Cisse continue up front? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Elliot

Debuchy S. Taylor Coloccini Santon

Tiote Cabaye

Gutierrez Sissoko Gouffran

Cisse

I’d go with a similar team to the one that has been starting in the league for Newcastle lately, with the only change being the enforced one in goal, with Elliot coming in for Krul.

Gouffran also comes in for Marveaux after injury, to support the misfiring Cisse. Hopefully if the Senegal man can stay onside he can score some much-needed goals and rediscover last season’s post-January form.

its not so important what the team is on sunday as the team will constantly change over a long season. It is important i think to have a settled preferred formation and style that works for us . now we have competition for places and a strong bench with options and hopefully 2-3 additions to the squad next summer will have us challenging at the right end of the table and later stages of the cups
