Peter Lovenkrands - Newcastle United News

If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes tomorrow afternoon, who would you pick to start for Newcastle against Norwich City? Who replaces the injured Steven Taylor and Fabricio Coloccini? Who comes into midfield for Danny Guthrie? Who plays up front? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

R. Taylor – Simpson – Santon – Ferguson

Obertan – Cabaye – Gosling – Gutierrez

Ben Arfa

Defensive frailties could well be our shortcoming tomorrow, with no recognised centre-backs fit for the trip to East Anglia. I’d do anything to keep James Perch out of the side so I’d pair Davide Santon in the middle with Danny Simpson. It will be inexperienced but both have played there before and the pace could be a decent option to have if they make mistakes.

Gutierrez comes back into the side after suspension and Obertan should continue on the right, with Ben Arfa continuing to scheme in a central role.

Shola Ameobi has been doing well when coming on as a substitute and if it wasn’t for the form of Ben Arfa he’d be in my starting XI.

Gosling has been poor when he has played so im not too keen… even Vukic deserves a chance but Albeid has more match fitness after 3 games with Morocco
