If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes tomorrow, who would you pick in your starting line ups for the game against Manchester City? Does Papiss Cisse start despite his barren run of form? Who replaces Ben Arfa if he isn’t fit enough to start? What formation should we play to give us the best chance? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Simpson Williamson Coloccini Santon

Marveaux Tiote Anita Gutierrez

Ba Ameobi

We don’t have too many options to drastically change anything to halt the poor run of form, so the back four once again picks itself. Ideally, Steven Taylor would partner Coloccini but Mike Williamson will play as Taylor is injured.

Our formation is a serious problem, with no real structure set out for us. 4-5-1 and 4-2-3-1 both leave someone out of position on the right wing if Ben Arfa is injured, so 4-4-2 looks the best option tomorrow. Shola Ameobi has to start over Papiss Cisse for me, as the Senegal striker has had far too many chances this season without showing any kind of promise. Shola will give a more physical approach and a target if we inevitably start to hoof it towards the front men.
