Fabricio Coloccini - Newcastle United News

If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes tomorrow, who would you pick for the game against Liverpool? Does Ben Arfa start? Does Santon come back in at left-back? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Simpson – Williamson – Coloccini – R. Taylor

Obertan – Cabaye – Tiote – Gutierrez

Ben Arfa

I’d play the same team that scored the goals against Bolton, with Ben Arfa and Taylor playing ahead of Leon Best and Davide Santon. Ben Arfa is in form and can lay on more goals for Ba before he jets off to Africa for the best part of January.

I'd say that was pretty much my idea as well. HBA needs games to get into the swing and his confidence will be up after the game v Bolton so I reckon he's a natural choice to start. Obertan also had a good game against the Trotters so should be on a high and start. Only one question would be to play Santon as a more natural defender over Raylor to help keep a lid on Maxi Rodriguez, but given the show on Boxing Day I'd still be inclined to go for the Raylor/Jonas overlap on the left.

would play same team apart from raylor, i think santon will give us extra cover at the back, and would allow gutierezz to pose more of a threat

      i would place
      simpson collo williams ds
      teioti cabaye jonas
      obertan hba
having check in the centre and letting the cabaye and jonas go forward and let obertan and hba roam behind ba
