Yohan Cabaye - Newcastle United Football News

If you were in Alan Pardew’s position tomorrow lunchtime, who would you pick in your starting XI to take all three points off Everton at St James’ Park? Who starts in place of the injured Obertan? Does Danny Guthrie continue in centre midfield with Cabaye? Does Davide Santon get a place in the first team or are Simpson and Ryan Taylor doing ok? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Simpson – S. Taylor – Coloccini – R. Taylor

Marveaux – Cabaye – Guthrie – Gutierrez

Best – Ba

I’d keep the same line-up that dominated Stoke from start to finish and only make changes where they are enforced. That means Obertan is unavailable and I’d replace him with Sylvain Marveaux, who has been impressive since joining from Rennes in the summer. I’d play the Frenchman on the right and let him cut inside, leaving Gutierrez to continue his impressive form on the left.

Guthrie did well against the Potters on Monday so should continue in centre-midfield with Cabaye. Dan Gosling should play some part, maybe give him half an hour from the bench to show what he can do.

Best and Ba are both doing well up front, so there’s no need to change there. Hatem Ben Arfa is unlucky to find himself left out of the team recently, but the team is doing that well that we simply don’t need him right now. A change in formation is always good to have though, and if Ben Arfa is needed, we can always go to a 4-5-1 with Ben Arfa playing behind Ba.

I agree fully with your team, if is not brocken do not fix it, and you can have three subs stand by if it needs to change the formation, any of Santon, Ben Arfa, Gosling, Ameobi and Vuckic can come in and change the game

I agree with the team you have named but instead of marveaux I would have to say Ben Arfa should start
