Fabricio Coloccini - Newcastle United News

If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes tomorrow, who would you pick in your starting XI to take on struggling Bolton at the Reebok? Does Cabaye come straight back into the side after suspension? Who replaces Santon at left-back? Does Haris Vuckic start after his impressive display against WBA? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Simpson – Williamson – Coloccini – R. Taylor

Obertan – Tiote – Cabaye – Gutierrez

Ben Arfa

I’d replace Santon with Ryan Taylor at left-back, as he has looked good there all season and was unlucky to lose his place to Santon when he got injured.

The brilliant Tiote and Cabaye partnership should come back into force in midfield, which should give us a distinct advantage over the Trotters’ Nigel Reo-Coker and Fabrice Muamba. Vuckic will be unlucky to miss out but Cabaye is too good to leave on the bench.

Hatem Ben Arfa must start. It’s baffling as to why he hasn’t been in the team lately and he has looked like making a difference when he comes on with his trickery and vision. Starting him would increase our chances, as the physical approach of Best and Ba won’t get much change against the physicality of Zat Knight and Gary Cahill.
