If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes for tomorrow’s FA Cup clash with Blackburn Rovers, who would you pick in your starting XI to take on the struggling Lancashire outfit? Who replaces Demba Ba? Who comes into midfield in place of Cheick Tiote? Who plays in goal if Tim Krul is rested? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Simpson – Williamson – Coloccini – Santon

Obertan – Vuckic – Gosling – Sammy Ameobi

Ben Arfa

Shola Ameobi

I’d stick with a full strength back 5, as we don’t have too many options there to be rotating if we want to win comfortably.

In midfield, I’d bring Obertan back in on the right as part of an inexperienced midfield, who have undoubted quality. Vuckic played poorly against Liverpool but fantastic against West Brom so it’s another chance for him to impress, whilst Sammy Ameobi looked good in the Carling Cup games he played in.

I’d get Ben Arfa starting in the hole supporting Shola Ameobi, as he can affect the game and give us the quality we might miss with the absence of Ba. Shola should lead the line, having done so against Man United to good effect in midweek.
