If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes tomorrow afternoon when Aston Villa come to town, who would you pick in your starting XI? Does Anita continue in midfield in Cheick Tiote’s absence? Do Gabriel Obertan and Sylvain Marveuax play on the wings? How do we solve the partnership of Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Simpson S. Taylor Coloccini Santon

Cabaye Anita Gutierrez

Ben Arfa Cisse Ba

I’d recall all the top players that didn’t play on Thursday night to make a statement against a poor Aston Villa side. The 4-3-3 formation that served us well at the end of last season should give us enough fire power to grab a few goals against former Toon hero Shay Given.

Ba playing from the left side of a front three may not increase the chance of him getting on the score sheet, but improves the freedom Papiss Cisse has and opens up chances for the Newcastle #9. Ben Arfa on the other wing will cause problems all day long and could be a source of creativity as usual.

my team Krul, Simpson S.taylor Coloccini Santon, Marveux Cabaye Anita Ben Arfa, Ba Cisse nows the time to leave Gutierrez out hes no longer a certain starter as we have better players now who create & contribute more to the team

Villa fan passing through. Probable Villa team:

    –Lowton Vlaar Clark Baker–
    N'Zogbia KEA Delph Holman

Subs: Given Lichaj Bennett Herd Bannan Weimann Bowery

Probable scoreline: Newcastle 4 – 0 Villa. Hope I'm wrong but at this stage Newcastle are very strong and we are struggling to get a grip on games.

Krul, (Simpson, Taylor, Collocini, Santon), (Ben Arfa, Anita, Cabaye ,Gutierrez), (Ba, Cisse). Subs :- Elliott, Perch, Marveaux , Amalfitano, Obertan.
All bases covered and lots of attacking options. Attack, Attack, Attack.

I agree with the back line – pretty much our best – but I would like to see more flexibility up front and in the middle – give Ba a rest (he's only just got over Ramadan) and play Marvelous out wide, or take on a 4-4-2 and slot Abeid or Bigi in the mid-field. These second string should be given opportunities and games at home against the bottom club are a good time to do so.
