If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes tomorrow, who would you pick in your Newcastle starting XI to take on Aston Villa? Does Fabricio Coloccini come back into the starting line-up after injury? Is there a place in the team for Loic Remy? Which formation will get the job done? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Debuchy – Williamson – Coloccini – Haidara

Sissoko – Tiote – Anita – Gouffran

De Jong – Remy

I’d go with an attacking 4-4-2 formation. It gives the side structure, is hard to break down, and gives Villa the problem of two strikers to mark.

Coloccini and Remy come straight back into the side, with Steven Taylor dropping out of defence and the injured Ben Arfa replaced. I’d like to start Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, but his performance the last time he partnered Coloccini (away to Everton) still haunts me.

Haidara to replace Santon at left-back is a safe option, with Paul Dummett also in the frame for a start.

Two up front should cause problems, as Remy’s pace can stretch the Villa defence and create room for De Jong, who would benefit from a dangerous partner.
