If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes tomorrow, who would you pick for the game against Arsenal? Does Cheick Tiote come back into the side after suspension? Who plays up front after Papiss Cisse’s goal drought ended on Boxing Day? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Krul

Debuchy – Williamson – Coloccini – Haidara

Sissoko – Tiote – Cabaye – Gouffran

Sh. Ameobi – Remy

For me, the formation is key. Newcastle were second best against Stoke when it was 11 v 11, so against a slick passing side like Arsenal, the shape of the side has to be more solid. A 4-4-2 is the best option, with the side remaining largely the same as it has been the last few weeks.

I’d bring Shola Ameobi back into the team to play up front with Remy, as his presence up front has been unsettling defences regularly for the past month or so. I think Pardew will bring Ameobi back in, too, having rested him against Stoke on Boxing Day.

Ben Arfa was back to his best against Stoke so leaving him out would obviously be the hardest decision, but using him from the bench would still be effective, especially if Newcastle go behind.

I’d also give Massadio Haidara a chance at left-back, as Davide Santon can struggle defensively. Memories of last season’s 7-3 pummelling also come flooding back when I think of Santon defending against Theo Walcott.
