Fabricio Coloccini - Newcastle United News
If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes on Sunday, who would you pick to start for Newcastle against that lot from up the road? Does Cisse partner Ba up front? Where does Hatem Ben Arfa fit into the equation? Does Ryan Taylor start after his free-kick won us three points at the start of the season? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Krul

Simpson – Coloccini – Williamson – Santon

Taylor – Tiote – Cabaye – Gutierrez

Ba – Cisse

I’d stick with the same back five that have been together regularly for the last months, seeing as they look to be getting stronger and Santon seems to be settling in nicely at left-back.

For me, Ryan Taylor should play on the right of midfield, despite not having much of an impact there in recent weeks. This is because of the threat of Stephane Sessegnon on the Mackems left wing and the former Wigan man’s deadly free-kicks. The game in August proves what a weapon a good free-kick taker can be.

It was a close call up front between Cisse and Ben Arfa, but I’d go for Cisse to start with Demba Ba. I’d be tempted to give HBA a full 90 minutes but there’s always a chance he’s going to neglect defensive duties and cost us. On the other hand, there’s always a chance he may win us the game with a sublime piece of skill, so I’d give him the last half an hour at least.

What do you think? Is this team good enough to send the unwashed home licking their wounds like last time? Leave a comment below and have your say!
