Steven Taylor - Newcastle United News

If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes come Sunday afternoon, who would you send onto the field to maintain our unbeaten run and take maximum points off Spurs? Do we stay unchanged from the side that’s been doing so well in recent weeks? Who plays up front? Does Shola Ameobi come back into the first team after injury? Leave a comment below and have your say!!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Krul

Simpson – S. Taylor – Coloccini – Santon

Obertan – Tiote – Cabaye – Gutierrez

Best – Ba

I’d only make one change to the side that beat Wolves two weeks ago, with Santon coming in at left-back in place of Ryan Taylor. Yes, it’s harsh on the former Wigan man but Santon is without doubt the best full-back at our disposal and with the pace of Aaron Lennon on the right for Spurs, Santon would be the best option on that flank.

The midfield has been impressive so far this season, with Tiote and Cabaye forming a great partnership in the centre of the park. Stats prove that no midfield pair have covered more grass this season than those two.

The strikers are both scoring and playing well, so there’s no point in changing them. Hopefully Ba can keep up his blistering form and elevate his side into the top three of the Premier League come Sunday evening, who’d have thought that at the end of the Summer?

Do you agree? Leave a comment below and have your say!

I'd swop Marveaux for Guti, Santon for Taylor and HBA for Best think we'l need obertans pace to backup Simpson against Bale

There's no sense in the mantra of 'not changing a winning team' IMO, you put out the team you think can beat your current opposition, you need to adapt to their counter their strengths. just trotting out the same team regardless will just hasten the time to our first defeat.

Pardew wants to play a 451 in the longrun, so what better time to start than against spurs' strong midfield, we could do with the extra man against Modric. Santon in for Raylor, if Raylor couldnt handle SWP there's no way he'll play well against Lennon. Marveaux in for Obertan, because he's been awesome for the reserves, and i feel Obertan doesnt defend well enough, and we'll need our right wing to be up to the task of containing Bale.

@beatski – exactly what im thinking! thats our best startting 11 so much creativity and also the power in midfield and the defence! we need these guys in the squad….no offence to the guys already but we have better players in defence midfield and attack than raylor, obertoon, and best… santon, marveaux, and HBA doing the no 10 roll…imo we would be so much stronger n more creative using these 2…
