Danny Guthrie - Newcastle United News

If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes this weekend when Norwich City come to town, who would you pick in your starting XI’s to take on the Canaries? Does Papiss Cisse return to the first team? Does Gabriel Obertan retain his place? Does Hatem Ben Arfa play from the start or from the bench? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Simpson – Williamson – Coloccini – Santon

Ben Arfa – Cabaye – Tiote – Gutierrez

Ba – Cisse

I’d keep Ben Arfa on the right wing, as he proved he can play there against Arsenal on Monday night, and I think we need to be the ones to press the issue at home, forcing Norwich onto the back foot.

Cisse returns up front to partner Ba, his pace can cause problems against a potentially sluggish Norwich defence and Ba’s powerful presence can compliment Cisse well.

There have been calls for Danny Guthrie to come back into the team, but I’d stick with Yohan Cabaye in the middle, with the France international’s passing and vision being the main reason behind this decision.

When we play ameobi the inevitable "hoof it up" (which we seem to play all the time) sticks due to height and stregnth.
