If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes come Monday night at Goodison Park, who would you pick to be in your starting XI’s to take on Everton? Who fills in for the injured Fabricio Coloccini? And Danny Simpson? And Tim Krul? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Harper

Perch Williamson Coloccini Santon

Cabaye Anita Gutierrez

Ben Arfa Cisse Ba

This would be my team to face Everton, although there could be cases made for many alterations in midfield and in defence. The problem lies in replacing Cheick Tiote, with a trio of players in contention. Vurnon Anita should get the nod though, as he is most similar to the wrecking ball-like Tiote who will miss out with injury.

The front three picks itself, while the back four is made up of the last men standing, with our only four senior defenders all being relied upon against an impressive Everton attack. The final decision is whether Rob Elliot or Steve Harper plays in goal, but I’d give it to the Geordie veteran with the experience edge key.

Man, Colo is OUT. Who did you actually mean?

Though it will be listed as a 4-4-2, IMO it will pan out to a 4-2-2-2 as:
    Harper
    Amita Williamson Saylor Santon
    Perch Gutierrez
    Ben Arfa Cabaye
    Cisse Ba
It will provide goals, if it keeps attacking and forces Everton on to the back foot. If Everton are restricted to hoping for something from their flanks the game will be won. The Perch & Amita v Pienaar match-up looks the most vulnerable as it is the least tried/experienced. All of Harper, Williamson and Saylor will need to play out of their skins. which is why Cabaye & Ben Arfa must pose a real threat, …all game.
