If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes come Friday afternoon, who would you pick in your starting XI’s to take on Swansea at the Liberty Stadium? Does Jonas Gutierrez continue at left-back? Who plays in midfield? Do we stick with 4-3-3 or switch back to 4-4-2? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Simpson – Williamson – Perch – Ryan Taylor

Cabaye – Tiote – Gutierrez

Ben Arfa – Cisse – Ba

I’d stick with the same formation that caused so many problems for Liverpool last week, but with one change. Danny Guthrie’s calf strain could keep him out and this creates a gap in the midfield which Gutierrez could plug easily. The Argentine struggled slightly at left-back last week and Swansea’s movement and pace could catch him out again, which makes me think Taylor would cope better.

The same three up front should create plenty of problems for Brendan Rodgers’ side and the form of Ben Arfa at the minute is something to scare any left-back in the country, never mind former Toon target Neil Taylor.
