If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes tomorrow, who would be in your starting XI to take on Crystal Palace at St James’ Park? Would Mike Williamson come into defence after being suspended for the Capital One Cup tie? Does Siem de Jong start? Which formation would be best? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I think:

Krul

Janmaat – Williamson – Coloccini – Haidara

Colback – Anita

Sissoko – de Jong – Cabella

Riviere

My team would be similar to the one that drew with Aston Villa, with only two changes to the starting XI.

Siem de Jong would play in the number 10 role behind Emmanuel Riviere and would provide the link between midfield and attack that Newcastle have lacked so far this season.

I’m not a big fan of Moussa Sissoko playing on the right of midfield but de Jong is vital to the 4-2-3-1 system so others would have to adapt. Yoan Gouffran would be the man missing out to include the Dutchman.

Riviere should get more support from midfield with the personnel above, so I woudn’t doubt his ability to lead the line despite his lack of chances so far.

The other change would be at left-back, with Massadio Haidara replacing Paul Dummett. Haidara was excellent in the League Cup on Tuesday and deserves the chance to start in the league games. His athleticism and attacking threat could provide another way to open up what will be a stubborn Crystal Palace defence.

That’s what I think, do you agree? Get involved and leave a comment below to have your say!

I'd play 4-1-4-1 krul jaanmat Williamson colo haidara colback cabella Sissoko dejong aarons Ferrera to see how he fairs don't need two holding players like in the 4-2-3-1 formation at home certainly not against palace I feel with dejong supporting Ferrera or riveire from midfield works.
