If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes tonight, who would be in your Newcastle team to take on Crystal Palace in the Capital One Cup? Does Emmanuel Riviere start up front? Who fills in for the ill Yoan Gouffran and Tim Krul? Leave a comment and get involved below!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Elliot

Janmaat – S.Taylor – Coloccini – Haidara

Colback – Anita

Obertan – Sissoko – Cabella

Ayoze Perez

I’d pick a fairly strong team to take on Palace, as a win could give the side much-needed confidence ahead of the trip to Stoke next week.

A 4-2-3-1 formation would keep things tight at Selhurst Park, with two defensive midfielders helping to keep tabs on the likes of Wilfried Zaha and Yannick Bolasie.

Steven Taylor would replace Mike Williamson in my team, while Elliot takes the place of the missing Tim Krul.

On the right of the three attacking midfielders, Gabriel Obertan would get a start after impressing in pre-season. He played well against Sheffield Wednesday and Real Sociedad and deserves the chance to stake a place for a first-team place tonight.

Lastly, I’d replace Emmanuel Riviere with Ayoze Perez up front. The Spaniard has shown promising signs in his substitute appearances so far this season and this could be the chance he needs to get his first goals for the club.
