If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes tomorrow lunchtime, who would make your starting XI for the game against Liverpool? How many of the team that knocked Man City out of the cup on Wednesday retain their places? Who plays up front in Papiss Cisse’s absence? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I think:

Krul

Janmaat – S.Taylor – Coloccini – Haidara

Obertan – Sissoko – Colback – Cabella

Perez – Riviere

I’d go with many of the team that overturned Spurs last weekend but with one main change – the formation. Two strikers caused Tottenham problems in the second half and earned Newcastle the win, so partnering Perez up front in my team would be Riviere.

Massadio Haidara could be more well eqipped to track the likes of Adam Lallana and Phillippe Coutinho thanks to his pace, so he’d get the nod over Paul Dummett.

Sissoko in centre midfield is a no-brainer, with Colback sitting slightly deeper to cover Sissoko’s attacking runs.

Remy Cabella would come in on the left ahead of Sammy Ameobi, as I think Ameobi has a greater impact coming off the bench in the second half of games.

Rolando Aarons would also be on the bench but come on in the second half. His fitness may not be quite 100% so a second half introduction may be the best option.
