If you were in John Carver’s shoes tomorrow when Newcastle arrive at the King Power stadium for the game against Leicester City, who would be in your starting XI? Does Siem de Jong start? Does Moussa Sissoko come straight back into the team? We want to hear from you, so leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Krul

Janmaat – Williamson – Coloccini – Dummett

Cabella – Sissoko – Colback – Gutierrez

de Jong

Perez

I’d go with a 4-4-1-1 formation, with Siem de Jong in the starting XI. Newcastle improved last week when he came on and with him starting, it means the side will have more presence up front and the all important link between midfield and attack. He could play as a regular partner for Perez but his more natural position is slightly deeper while still having an eye for goal.

Jonas Gutierrez would keep his place on the left of midfield as Yoan Gouffran does not warrant another appearance this season. The Argentine played well against Swansea last time out and showed excellent energy and was willing to track back and break up attacks.

If he’s fit enough, I’d start Paul Dummett at left-back. No one could have predicted that the team would miss Dummett as much as they have but with him back, we have a recognised left-back in the position that has been weak of late. Ryan Taylor’s defending for Swansea’s third goal last week was nothing short of woeful and for that he needs to be dropped. If Taylor was playing at his best, I’d replace Williamson with Dummett at centre-back but considering the height and aerial ability of Leicester’s Leo Ulloa, Williamson will have more of a chance.
