If you were in John Carver’s shoes tomorrow, who would be in your starting line-up to take on Leicester at the King Power stadium? Who replaces the injured Steven Taylor? Who leads the line up front? Leave a comment below and have your say! Here’s what I’ve come up with: Alnwick Janmaat – Coloccini – Dummett – Haidara Cabella – Sissoko – Colback – Gouffran Perez – Riviere I’d go for a 4-4-2 formation, with two strikers to cause Leicester’s defence problems. I’d choose Paul Dummett to replace Steven Taylor with Massadio Haidara coming in at left-back, while Remy Cabella would start on the right of midfield. Sissoko can affect the game more from the centre of midfield, while Yoan Gouffran looked good in the draw with Burnley in the first half. Perez is arguably our player of the season so far and I’d pair him with Emmanuel Riviere, who showed some good hold-up play against Burnley, even if he was poor in front of goal. Adam Armstrong will likely get some more pitch time but if Newcastle are up against it, he needs to stay on the bench as he doesn’t have enough presence to lead the line alone. Finally, I’d like to see youngster Callum Roberts get a place on the bench. He’s been excellent for the under 21 side in recent months and has travelled with the first-team to a few games. It’s time to give him a chance, especially with the lack of wingers available. What do you think? Leave a comment below and have your say!
