If you were in John Carver’s shoes tomorrow when Newcastle travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea, who would be in your starting XI? Who comes in for the injured Steven Taylor? Who replaces Cheick Tiote and Papiss Cisse after they left for the African Nations? Let us know by leaving a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Janmaat – Coloccini – Dummett – Haidara

Cabella – Sissoko – Colback – Gouffran

Ayoze Perez – Riviere

I’d choose a 4-4-2 formation, as our lack of in-form midfielders means an extra man in the middle isn’t much of an option. Sissoko and Colback could form a decent partnership in the middle, with the skill of Cabella hopefully showing itself on the right wing.

At the back, I’d pick Dummett over Williamson at centre-back and Haidara ahead of Davide Santon as the Italian isn’t yet fully fit.

Up front, Perez is the best hope of a goal while Riviere’s physical presence will be needed against a team that has only conceded three goals at home all season and Chelsea FC tickets are in demand.

Even if Krul isn’t fully fit, he’d play in goal in my team. Jak Alnwick has struggled badly in the Dutchman’s absence and it’s perfect timing for Krul to return.

That’s my team, what do you think? Leave a comment below and have your say!
