If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes tomorrow, who would be in your starting XI to take on relegation battlers Cardiff City at St James’ Park? Does Luuk de Jong come back into the starting line-up? Does Dan Gosling keep his place in midfield? Let us know by leaving a comment below and get involved! Here’s what I’ve come up with: Krul Debuchy – S.Taylor – Coloccini – Haidara Sissoko – Tiote – Anita Ben Arfa – De Jong – Remy I’d change the system slightly, going for a 4-3-3 formation. Steven Taylor would come into defence in place of Mike Williamson, who has been poor the last couple of weeks and made mistakes that led to goals. Taylor may also have more to prove, seeing as he is out of the team and wants to get back into it for next season. I’d also give Massadio Haidara a chance at left-back ahead of Paul Dummett. The Frenchman hasn’t had many starts this season and deserves the chance to show what he can do. The three man midfield consists of the best three centre midfielders we have, with Anita and Sissoko playing either side of the anchor man, Cheick Tiote. Sissoko’s power from a right centre position will help us and with three strikers in front of him, there should be options available. Luuk de Jong would return to my team in a centre forward position, where he is most effective. The Dutchman has been playing a withdrawn role for Newcastle so far and it is not his best role, so let him play up front as the central striker and judge him on his performances there. Loic Remy would play out on the left wing, as he drifts over to that side of the pitch anyway when playing centrally. I don’t think for one minute that Hatem Ben Arfa will play tomorrow, but I would certainly pick him in the team if I was in charge. He gives excitement, creativity and skill and could be the one hope Newcastle have of stopping thousands of their own fans walking out of the stadium after 60 minutes. What do you think?
