If you were in John Carver’s shoes when Newcastle arrive at Selhurst Park tonight, who would make your starting XI to get one over on former manager Alan Pardew? Who leads the line up front? Who is the best midfield combination? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Janmaat – Williamson – Coloccini – Haidara

Abeid – Colback

Obertan – Sissoko – Cabella

To have the best chance, I’d go with a five-man midfield. Mehdi Abeid and Jack Colback can do a good job silencing the likes of Jason Puncheon finding space behind the main striker and give the three attacking midfielders more freedom.

In those three attacking positions, I’d start Gabriel Obertan on the right. The Frenchman’s speed could be a huge weapon on the counter attack and Cabella would get more of a free role from the left of midfield. Moussa Sissoko would play behind the striker where he can have maximum effect from the central areas.

Up front, I’d choose Papiss Cisse. Perez has been excellent in recent weeks but he may be in danger of playing too many games and with Cisse not starting many recently, the Senegal striker may be the better option.
