Alan Pardew was left to praise Chelsea’s work rate after an Eden Hazard-inspired Chelsea saw us lose 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.

The Newcastle boss felt that his side did well with the players he had at his disposal and should have levelled the score.

Padrew told the press: “Well I thought, particularly the first half, we played very well with the players we had available. We had a fantastic chance at one-nil to throw a sought of real confusion into the game but unfortunately we missed that chance and they went straight up the other end when we were carrying an injury and got the second. They’re a good team. Their work rate today was phenomenal, I thought, for a team of the technical ability that they have. But I have to say that, coming out of the game, we had a few positives ourselves. I thought Sammy Ameobi, Paul Dummett, and particularly Luuk de Jong, gave performances that, actually, are something that in the next 13 games are going to be important for us.”
