Australian Curtis Good is enjoying his first few weeks on Tyneside with his first appearance in black and white coming less than 24 hours after he officially joined the club on a reported fee of around £600k.

The Australian Institute Of Sport graduate joined the club on Tuesday 31st July and featured in the reserves derby at Gateshead the day later, where he looked strong against the Heed attack. His big and tall stature gives him a Steven Taylor like look on the ball and his off the ball movement looked to be spot on.

He joins Newcastle after a 2 week trial last season and impressed John Carver, Alan Pardew and Willie Donachie – who was partially impressed with the Aussie’s attitude and effort shown by his trial and in matches for Melbourne Heart. Good signed just days before the release of Tamas Kadar, after the Hungarian’s injury plagued stint came to an end on Tyneside.

Playing for the reserves Good joins other new signing Lubomir Satka a Slovakian Under-17 international and captain which both players are now tipped to be big parts of the club’s future.

The Aussie says he has been to St James’s once during his trial and loved the over-whelming atmosphere and has had a wander along the Quayside and town and talks very highly of the club, city and its people.
Good will most likely be a 4th choice centre back this year after Coloccini, Taylor and Williamson but he has been backed to feature heavily in the reserves and newly founded under-21 league for the Magpies.
The signing of Good shows that Pardew looks to be strengthening all his positions for the Toon Army’s tour of Europe this season.

Good will be strong competition for the other defenders and will fit straight into reserves with other ‘for the future’ players like Adam Campbell, Remi Streete, Lubomir Satka, Jak Alnwick and Yven Moyo.

Hope that you read this Curtis. Been a fan of yours since I met a fan of yours about a year ago who supported Melbourne Heart and told me you were potentially a really great player who should be playing in the Premier League.
