Newcastle transfer target Pierre-Michel Lasogga is set to sign a permanent deal with Hamburg, according to reports.

The 22-year-old German international had been on loan at Hamburg last season and scored 13 goals in 20 games, before heading back to Hertha Berlin when his deal expired.

Newcastle were interested in the 6’2” front man but Lasogga appears to have chosen to stay in Germany, despite travelling to Newcastle to check out the stadium and training facilities.

The news will be another setback in Alan Pardew’s search for a new frontline as he struggles to attract new players to boost his side.

Newcastle currently only have youngsters Adam Campbell and Adam Armstrong along with the injured Papiss Cisse and new signing Ayoze Perez as their recognised strikers.

We should not be surprised that any player prefers to go anywhere else, no cup runs, no ambition in the league and a negative defensive minded hoofball manager and coaches who will stifle any creativity shown in the team in favour of defending deep.
We will struggle this season without goals, but as long as the club is making money for the owner that's ok, the fans and the clubs standing in the game pales into insignificance compared to the owners greed and narcissism.
