More pre-season plans for Newcastle United emerged today, as it was confirmed that they will be competing in a second friendly tournament before the new Premier League campaign kicks off.

The Football United Tour is in New Zealand and will consist of four teams, including West Ham United. The other two sides are Sydney FC and Wellington Phoenix.

Newcastle will make the round-the-world journey shortly before heading to Germany, where they will compete in the inaugural Schalke 04 trophy.

Despite four teams being involved in the competition, the two Premier League sides will not face each other. Neither will Sydney play Wellington.

The competition gets underway on 22 July, just under a month before the new season begins.
