Steve McClaren’s first game in charge of Newcastle United will be at St James’ Park when Southampton travel to Tyneside on the opening weekend of the 2015/16 Premier League.

The fixtures released today also see Newcastle travel to Swansea and Manchester United in August, before completing their first month at home to Arsenal.

McClaren will take on his first Derby Day on October 24, when Newcastle go to Sunderland to try and end a five-match losing streak against a side currently managed by Dick Advocaat.

The return game at St James’ Park will be on March 19. Newcastle close out their season at home for the second season running, when Spurs are the opposition.

Boxing Day sees Everton come to Tyneside, before the Magpies travel to West Brom in the midst of the busy festive period.
