After rounding off their Premier League season with defeat at Anfield, here’s our player ratings for the boys who were beaten against Liverpool.

Tim Krul, 5 – Could have taken charge of both of the free kicks for the goals better and nullified the danger by being decisive and brave. Didn’t do it and cost his team.

Mathieu Debuchy, 7 – Best player on the pitch in a Newcastle shirt. Energetic and provided a threat down the right wing whenever possible.

Steven Taylor, 6 – Didn’t put a foot wrong and with the other two centre-backs, cut off the space around Suarez and Sturridge well.

Mike Williamson, 6 – Similar to Taylor. Marked the space well but could maybe have been more dominant at the free kicks from which the goals were scored.

Fabricio Coloccini, 6 – Struggled to keep track of Sturridge but was otherwise dependable. Big boost to have him for next season.

Massadio Haidara, 6 – Looked neat and tidy at left-back, linked up with Anita and the midfield nicely and tried to get forward when he could.

Vurnon Anita, 6 – Should have done better with a chance from Gouffran’s follow up shot.

Cheick Tiote, 6 – Done OK in centre midfield, but could have got to Gerrard more in open play. Shouldn’t have dived in for the free kick he conceded.

Moussa Sissoko, 7 – Another powerful performance on the right of midfield. Would have liked him to get at Jon Flanagan more.

Yoan Gouffran, 5 – No confidence at all. Two one on one’s with Mignolet but couldn’t finish any of them. Form totally gone since Christmas.

Shola Ameobi, 7 – Not the way he wanted to finish his Newcastle career. Red card was ridiculous but up until then he had played very well. Great pass through for Gouffran but unlucky his game was cut short.
