Wednesday afternoon brought confusion amongst Newcastle fans, as a report appeared on Sky Sports website claiming Alan Pardew’s seven-match ban had been reduced to three, before being deleted. Instead, it emerged the ban had not changed and in fact the FA wanted to hand the Newcastle manager a harsher ban for being “aggressive”. The FA confirmed they planned on issuing Pardew with a five-game stadium ban and a hefty fine but were not allowed to go through with the penalty after they referred the case to an independent panel. The panel came to the conclusion that because Pardew was swiftly fined by his Club and warned about his future conduct, the penalty would be less than it would have been had Mike Ashley not slapped his manager with a £100k fine. Pardew has served one match of his ban and will again watch from away from the ground when Newcastle host Crystal Palace on Saturday.
