Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is ready to spend money this summer in order overhaul his squad.

The amount of money Pardew will have is unspecified but believed to be around the £20m mark, allowing Newcastle to add the quality and depth they need to push towards the top six in the Premier League.

Magpies’ fans have been frustrated for the last two transfer windows, as their club haven’t signed anyone permanently. Only Loic Remy and Luuk de Jong have joined on loan from Queens Park Rangers and Borussia Moenchengladbach respectively.

Attacking players are undoubtedly the main focus of Newcastle’s search, with a replacement for Yohan Cabaye and a makeover in the striker department expected.

Shola Ameobi is set to leave on a free at the end of the season after over a decade with the club and of the remaining options at Pardew’s disposal, only Papiss Cisse is a full-time Newcastle player.

The Newcastle manager has one relatively straightforward signing in front of him, with de Jong ready to join the Magpies as long as the two clubs can agree a fee. The same situation is not in place in the Loic Remy deal though, with the Frenchman set to snub the Geordies despite scoring 13 goals this season.

That leaves Pardew to look for other options as he tries to sign players that can fire his side up the Premier League table.

Lyon pair Bafetimbi Gomis and Clement Grenier have been linked with a move to Tyneside for some time, with Newcastle failing with a late bid for the latter in January. Grenier is a like-for-like replacement for Yohan Cabaye and could provide the creative spark Newcastle have been missing since Cabaye joined Paris St. Germain earlier this year.

New Managing Director Lee Charnley may have a busy summer ahead of him, as he is one of the main men in charge of negotiating with potential signings. The former Newcastle club secretary takes over the chief negotiations role from Joe Kinnear, who failed to make a permanent signing in his time with the Club.

£20 million? That MIGHT just get you Remy (if he wanted to stay).
Improve the team greatly? No chance.

Where is the money from Sky? Did they not say last year that they wouldn't spend it until they got it? Well surely we must have received it by seasons end.
