Alan Pardew - Newcastle United News

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew was delighted with both the overall performance and Shola Ameobi’s contribution.

He said: “He is somebody that since I have been here has been absolutely brilliant.

“I looked at him and I thought his reputation didn’t coincide with the player he is.

“Since I have been here, he’s fitter, scoring goals, impacts the game, great in the dressing room, and I was so pleased for him that he got that goal.”

Well done Shola very underrated footballer – gets too much unnessary stick – might not be best forward in world but ive seen a lot worse forwards in B and W strip ie Bobby Shinton Ray Clarke Billy Whitehurst Btlly Rafferty Alan Shoulder to name a few

Neil Watson Shoulder wasn't that bad & considering he came straight from non-league football I thought he did well. As for Shola he isn't as bad as most fans say the problem is is his style looks lazy even when he's trying. Cracking goal on Sunday

Aye your right mate Shoulder wasnt as bad as the other lot – I just get annoyed when Shola gets the blame fior everything that goes wrong on the pitch – not a prolific scorer but the fact he's scored all those goals against the Mackems should at least give him some credibility and respect from the fans
