Alan Pardew has finally been officially confirmed as the new manager of Crystal Palace. The 53-year-old has signed a three-and-a-half year deal at Selhurst Park, where he enjoys a good reputation having played for the Eagles in the late 1980’s. Newcastle have received £3.5m in compensation, as Pardew still had over five years remaining on his 8-year contract signed in 2012. John Carver has been in caretaker charge since the home match with Burnley and will continue to fill the gap left by Pardew until a new manager is appointed by Mike Ashley. Carver will prepare the squad for today’s FA Cup clash with Leicester at the King Power stadium, as Newcastle look to move on after four years of Pardew’s leadership.
