Newcastle managing director Derek Llambias has resigned from his role with immediate effect, the club have announced on their official website.

The announcement is just the latest in a baffling recent run of events at the club. Only yesterday Llambias was quoted as welcoming new director of football Joe Kinnear to St James’ Park once more.

Llambias said yesterday: “The Board is pleased to welcome Joe back to the club.

“Joe has many years of experience working within the game, and this experience will be of great benefit to the club in achieving our objectives over the coming seasons.”

Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

Sure, Ashley has finally figured out Llambias is nothinhg more than a paid liability, who,s only saving grace is to take the heat from hin and realised he has no one to talk to about the footballing side, when it comes ti decisions.
What he really needs is a GM with both financial and footballing nous, plus a decent manager, who can properly utiise the present talent , someone with a knowledge of the modern game.
No more cheap re. treads puleez, you get what you pay for.
