As Arsenal close in on the signing of Mathieu Debuchy, Newcastle United have already got the ball rolling on signing a replacement. Feyenoord’s Daryl Janmaat is the Magpies’ chosen man and the two clubs have already been in contact regarding the 24-year-old right-back. Janmaat is currently preparing for Holland’s World Cup semi-final with Argentina tomorrow, so any official move for the player would wait until after his country’s participation in the competition was over. The Dutchman has been linked with Manchester United in recent months, given that his national team manager, Louis van Gaal, is set to take over at Old Trafford when Holland leave Brazil. But Newcastle are understood to be keen on getting a deal done quickly, as they try and replace the void left by Debuchy’s move to the Emirates, which is expected to go through officially in the next 24 hours.
