Newcastle United will take part in the inaugural Schalke 04 cup as part of their pre-season preparations.

Alan Pardew’s side have been confirmed as one of four participants, with Schalke 04 and Malaga also competing. The remaining side has yet to be confirmed for the competition, which is held at the Veltins Arena, the home of Schalke.

The points system in the competition is set to be different to normal, with three points awarded to a match winner and any drawn matches going straight to a penalty shootout. The winner of the shootout will get two points, with the loser getting nothing.

The competition will be held over the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd of August.

Again and again lie. I think ,like last season, we take on loan 1 or 2 players. What I think, Ashley financial situation very very bad. Will be better start from 0. What I mean- sack the Pardew, Ashley sell club to big Ukraine or Russian thief, like Abramovich (Chelsea), and I guaranty 100% Newcastle again will be on the row……..
