After completing the signing of Remy Cabella last night, the next few days could see Newcastle United further strengthen their squad with the addition of more players. Daryl Janmaat is expected to complete his move from Feyenoord within the next 48 hours, which will then see Mathieu Debuchy’s switch to Arsenal go through. And Newcastle could continue their spending spree with the acquisition of at least one striker. Monaco forward Emmanuel Riviere is close to agreeing a deal to swap the South of France for the North of England for a fee around £6m. The powerful striker joined big-spending Monaco from Toulouse – where he was a team mate of Moussa Sissoko – but has fallen down the pecking order at the French giants. He is seeking a move and fits Alan Pardew’s requirements to lead the Magpies line next year and a deal would see him become Newcastle’s fifth summer signing. Another attacking option is Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette. The Geordies have been tracking the 22-year-old for some time and feel the time is right to make a move. Lyon have just finished a disappointing Ligue 1 season where they failed to qualify for the Champions League. However, the French side are holding out for a massive fee for Lacazette – around 16 million Euros – and any deal could take some time to complete. Lazazette has also said he wants to play for a Champions League club but there has been no concrete interest from any of the sides taking part in the competition, making a switch to Newcastle a possibility.
