After an extended break thanks to their premature FA Cup exit, Newcastle return to Premier League action today when they take on Norwich City at Carrow Road. During the ten days they had off, Alan Pardew and the Magpies squad jetted off for some warm weather training in Dubai. A cold night in East Anglia should be the perfect welcome back to the domestic calendar. The big news ahead of the game is that Yohan Cabaye will not be part of the squad, after Newcastle agreed a deal with PSG to sell the midfielder to the reigning French champions. The bid was accepted late on Monday night, so while the rest of the team prepare to take on Norwich, Cabaye will be on his way to the French capital to complete a medical and agree personal terms. Cabaye’s countryman Mathieu Debuchy returns from suspension for the game against the Canaries but Fabricio Coloccini is still sidelined. That means Steven Taylor is the favourite to be dropped from the starting line-up, with Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa switching to centre-back as Debuchy is reinstated at right-back. Chris Hughton will have to manage without Jonas Gutierrez for the visit of his former side, as the on-loan winger is ineligible to play against his parent club. One of Norwich’s three former Leeds midfielders, Jonny Howson, is injured, while Michael Turner also misses out.
