Three of Newcastle’s loanees should have been in action in the SPL this weekend, as St Mirren took on Dundee United. Curtis Good is on loan for Dundee, while Conor Newton and Adam Campbell ply their trade for the Buddies. However, Good picked up an injury on international duty for Australia earlier this month so he missed out. Newton started for St. Mirren and played the full 90 minutes but didn’t get on the score sheet, while Campbell was an unused substitute for Danny Lennon’s side. Dundee United were 2-0 down but came back to win the match with an injury time goal. It ended 3-2. Rotherham United played out a 1-1 draw with Walsall in League One but right-back James Tavernier was missing through injury. Haris Vuckic came off the bench in the 54th minute for the promotion chasers. Birmingham City were battered 4-1 by Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough but Toon loanee Shane Ferguson was not involved in the squad. French Ligue 2 side Dijon were beaten at home to Le Havre on Friday night, with forgotten Newcastle man Romain Amalfitano not included in the squad. Panathanaikos continued their push for a Champions League place with a 1-0 away win at Ioannina. Mehdi Abeid was a 58th minute substitute.
