It was a quiet week for our loan stars, as only three seen any action over the weekend.

James Tavernier played the full 90 minutes for Rotherham United as their promotion chase took a hit with a 0-0 draw at home to Bradford City. Fellow Newcastle loanee Haris Vuckic was introduced from the bench in the second half but couldn’t find the net with a late chance. Rotherham are still in the hunt for a play-off place as the League One season draws to an end.

Forgotten Newcastle  midfielder Romain Amalfitano was  in action for Dijon on Monday night, as his adopted side earned a 2-2 draw with league leaders Metz. The younger brother of West Brom’s Morgan was subbed off with little over 15 minutes remaining, in which time Metz struck a late equaliser.

Injury stopped Curtis Good from appearing for Dundee United in their Scottish Cup semi-final win over Rangers, while Jonas Gutierrez was missing from Norwich’s squad as they were beaten at Fulham. Mehdi Abeid was not part of the Panathanaikos squad on Sunday afternoon.

There were no games this weekend for Birmingham’s Shane Ferguson or St. Mirren pair Adam Campbell and Conor Newton.

Hopefully not, David. Tavernier may have a chance to impress in pre-season but another loan spell (probably to a Championship team) may await. As for Vuckic, it could be a similar story. He has quality but no experience of first team football in a competitive team, so he may have to wait longer.
