Newcastle midfielder Dan Gosling has been fined £30,000 and warned about his future conduct by the FA, after the 24-year-old was found guilty of breaking betting rules.

FA Rule E8(b) states that any player must not bet on any match involving their own team or any team in their division and Gosling fell afoul of the rule.

Gosling may have been expecting a ban to go with his fine but has been let off this time, having requested a personal hearing. Exact details of the offence haven’t (and probably never will) come to light but was most likely a minor offence that didn’t bring the outcome of any game into disrepute.

Gosling has spent time on loan at Blackpool this season and has made three appearances as a substitute for Newcastle.
